Who We Are

Nehemiah Gateway Community Development Corporation (NGCDC) is a project of Shiloh Baptist Church, Delaware's oldest Black Baptist church. An independent 501(c)(3) non-profit, Nehemiah Gateway is located at the corner of 23rd and Washington Streets in Wilmington, DE. We work primarily with low and moderate income workers and business owners in Delaware, especially people of color.

The mission of Nehemiah Gateway Community Development Corporation is to transform lives and communities by increasing opportunities for successful employment, entrepreneurship, and asset development.

Our Vision

The Nehemiah Gateway Community Development Corporation (NGCDC) strengthens the economies of low and moderate income communities in Delaware by implementing programs and projects that build assets, workforce capacity, and business opportunities.  This is accomplished by replicating and designing innovative community economic development strategies.

Local programs are flexible and market driven to meet the needs of our own community.  Each project is designed with a focus on collaboration with partners who share the mission and goals of NGCDC.  The goal of the collaborations is to maximize the use of existing resources and to increase the talent and competencies contributed to each project.

Our History

Nehemiah Gateway was incorporated in Delaware in 2000 and started program operations in 2001.  We are a community development corporation that is a project of Shiloh Baptist Church, Delaware's oldest Black Baptist church.
